Carpenters work primarily independently and can utilize critical thinking skills to troubleshoot projects. Carpenters are in charge of the project when the project manager is not on site but will report any questions or concerns right away to the Project Manager. They perform tasks involving mental attention to detail and physical labor for residential and commercial projects. They operate a variety of hand and power tools. They clean and prepare sites, dig holes, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials. Assists other craft workers with attention to detail and staying on task. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Performing a variety of tasks involving manual labor in projects; performing manual work in preparing spaces for flooring, decking, bathrooms, and exterior spaces • Shoveling and breaking concrete and pouring concrete • Working with treated lumber, cedar, and synthetic decking material • Working with windows, siding, roofing, concrete, pavers, and dirt • Drywall work, paint, trim • Light Electrical, light plumbing • Maintaining a clean job site: picking up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards • Handling and storing materials • Loading and unloading trucks and hauling and hoisting materials • Ensuring that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed; bringing problems to the attention of the Project Manager, Production Manager, or the Operations Manager • Minimizes store trips by assisting in the planning of the project material • Responsible for turning in all job receipts • Clocking In and Clocking Out • Daily Logs and taking daily pictures MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES) ● Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment ● Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work ● Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions ● Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in home projects ● Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions ● Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule ● Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions ● Ability to communicate orally and in writing ● Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely ● Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions ● Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
