Tank Builder/ Welder (Nationwide)

NOTE: Compensation, benefits, and other position details are subject to Phillips Tank’s policies and procedures. • *Travel is Required for this position 75% of the time** Day to Day Duties: • Performing arc and torch cutting and gouging. • Using generators, compressors, tuggers, blowers, grinders, and other power and air tools. • Welding plate with 7018, 7024 and 6010 stick (SMAW), flux core (FCAW), and submerged arc automatic machines (3 o’clock and “goat”/tractor). • Using come-alongs, hydraulic jacks, hoists, air bags, winches, and other lifting equipment. • Using tank shell buggies, tank scaffolding, tank ladders, and other specialty equipment. • Performing vacuum box tests, oil tests, dye penetrant tests, and other non-destructive quality examinations. • Using gas monitors, fresh air kits, respirators, emergency rescue kits, and other safety equipment. • Operating forklifts, man lifts, boom lifts, and other large lifting equipment. • Knowledge of crane operations (including rigging and signaling) • Reading detailed erection and fabrication drawings. • Planning the sequence and methods of fitting up, welding, repairing, and constructing tanks. • Completing job safety analysis, safety audits, site-specific training, and other safety training. • Follow directions and work professionally with other crew members. \ • Other duties as assigned. Orbital Tube Welder

Vast is looking for an Orbital Tube Welder, reporting to the Senior Manager of Advance Manufacturing, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations. This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location Responsibilities: • Create and follow procedures to setup and operate the orbital welding system • Work from blueprints and approved drawings • Work alongside engineering to provide insight to process improvements • Cut and prepare tubing and fittings used in the welding operation • Perform setup and maintenance of the welding system • Assist in training other teammates in orbital tube welding • Work with final integration teams to weld on vehicle assembly • Assemble and calibrate liquid controllers and systems as required • Inspect all completed assemblies using borescope and other inspection tools • Maintain an adequate supply of spare parts for the welding system • Maintain a clean work area, practicing "clean as you go" and general housekeeping standards • Assist in facility needs Minimum Qualifications: • 1+ year of welding, machining or manufacturing experience OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, welding, and/or electronics • Ability to operate forklift to assist in facility daily operations Preferred Skills & Experience: • Certification from a formal orbital weld training program • 3+ years of orbital welding experience • Clean room experience • Airframe and powerplant (A&P) license • TIG welding and clean room experience • Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment • Strong forklift experience Additional Requirements: • Able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted • Able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours min • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces • Able to work in small teams to ensure production needs are consistently met Pay Range: • Orbital Tube Welder I: $24.00 - $29.00 • Orbital Tube Welder II: $27.00 - $34.00 • Orbital Tube Welder III: $31.00 - $38.00 COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
